I wasn't particularly impressed with how this whole thing was handled or communicated. The part that bugged me the most was that even if I downgraded to the last version that my registered copy worked on my registration was no longer valid - so it wasn't just that I was not getting updates, but that my access had been terminated. I had a similar experience recently when I fired it up after a hiatus.

This has become gradually more difficult and has reached the point where, sadly, it is just no longer possible. The lifetime license means that I am still supporting and providing updates to every user that has ever registered. However, I did not expect that I would still be working on mIRC twenty-five years later.

I don't really have a lot of use for mIRC, but I liked the idea that I could with the registration I paid for. These days I use HexChat, Textual, Igloo, etc. Reddit is picking up and linking the colon.
